Hi, I’m a 49-year-old woman, I wanted to know, by taking antidepressant drugs, can you break the cycle by anticipating it? Thank you.

Hello, antidepressant drugs can belong to different pharmacological classes, each with different characteristics and peculiarities. Not knowing which class you mean, it’s hard to answer. However, the most used products do not normally interfere with the menstrual cycle. On the other hand, it is possible that depressive or anxious syndromes create menstrual irregularities. In any case, the best solution would be to address this question to your psychiatrist (or to those who prescribed your therapy) and possibly ask for a gynecological opinion to evaluate other possible causes.
