Tadacip (tadalafil)

Tadacip is a 20 mg tadalafil tablet manufactured by Cipla Ltd in India. It’s available only in the 20 mg strength — there’s one dose, and the clinical decision is whether to take it or not. Unlike sildenafil, which comes in 25, 50, and 100 mg options requiring dose selection, Tadacip is a single-strength product at the maximum approved on-demand tadalafil dose.

Dosing

One tablet taken with water at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. Effects develop within 30 to 60 minutes for most men, though individual onset varies. Duration: up to 36 hours — substantially longer than sildenafil or vardenafil. Maximum one dose per 24-hour period.

Tadalafil’s absorption is not significantly affected by food, including fatty meals. This distinguishes it from sildenafil, which is meaningfully delayed by heavy eating. A meal close to dosing won’t impair Tadacip’s effect the way it would with a sildenafil product.

Sexual stimulation is required. The drug doesn’t produce erections independently — it extends the response to arousal that would otherwise be insufficient.

Nitrates

Tadalafil is absolutely contraindicated with all nitrates — nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, and recreational nitrites (poppers). Combined use causes severe, potentially fatal blood pressure drops. This applies equally to occasional and regular use of nitrates.

Contraindications

All nitrates and recreational nitrites. Serious cardiovascular conditions where sexual activity itself carries risk. Recent stroke or myocardial infarction. Severe hypotension or uncontrolled hypertension. Retinitis pigmentosa. History of NAION. Severe hepatic impairment. Other ED medications on the same day. Hypersensitivity to tadalafil.

Alpha-blockers

Alpha-blockers used for BPH or hypertension — doxazosin, tamsulosin, alfuzosin — interact with tadalafil to cause additive blood pressure lowering. Hemodynamic stabilization on the alpha-blocker dose is required before adding tadalafil. The combination requires medical supervision.

Side effects

Headache, facial flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, dizziness, and blurred vision are the most common. Muscle and joint pain — particularly back pain — are associated with tadalafil specifically, related to PDE11 inhibition in muscle tissue. These typically appear hours after dosing and resolve without intervention.

Color vision impairment and cardiovascular events are rare but documented serious effects.

Priapism — erection lasting more than 4 hours — is a medical emergency. Immediate treatment is required to prevent permanent damage to erectile tissue.
